2021 Boys State Track Meet - CJ Thompson

2021 Boys State Track - CJ2021 Boys State Track Meet

Congratulations to CJ Thompson for his amazing races at the State Track meet! He made it through to finals and placed 8th in the 110 hurdles, ran the 4x200 relay, and then came back to place 4th in the 300 hurdles! We’re so proud of him!

2021 Boys State Track2021 WIAA State Track Meet

Congratulations to C J Thompson and the boys 4 x 200 meter relay team for qualifying for this year's WIAA Division 2 State Track Meet.  C J Thompson will compete in the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles.  Members of the relay team include Bennett Nelson, Nick Makela, CJ Thompson, Cameron Benesch, Xander Polkoski and Jesse Larson.

The 2021 WIAA Division 2 State Track Meet will take place on Friday, June 25 at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of UW-La Crosse.

2021 Softball Regional Champs

NHS Girl2021 Girls Softball Regional Championss Softball: 2021 Regional Champions

Congratulations to the NHS Girls Softball team as they earned a Regional Championship! 

They defeated St. Croix Falls 12-0 in 5 innings on Wednesday, June 16.  Next, they will travel to Bloomer to take on the Blackhawks in a Sectional Semi-final game on Monday, June 21.

2021 Boys Golf State: Trent MeyerCongratulations to Tiger golfer Trent Meyer as he finished runner up at the WIAA D2 State Boys Golf Tournament at Trapper Turn Golf Course in Wisconsin Dells.

Trent shot a 36 hole total of 150

NHS Activities Round-up: June 2021

Band

The band wrapped up their year's music with the Band Pops Concert and Commencement.  The 2021 Band Pops Concert featured The Mandalorian, West Side Story,  “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid, “Yoda’s Theme” from The Empire Strikes Back and Highlights from Harry Potter.  The Jazz Band performed “That Old Black Magic” and “House of the Rising Sun” and the Sports Band played “Smoke on the Water”.

Recognized at the concert and at the earlier Senior Awards night were the following 2021 Senior Band Awards Recipients:
John Philip Sousa Award: CLAIRE JARMAN 
Louis Armstrong Jazz Award: JOEL WALSH
Semper Fidelis Award: AMY BATES

In Addition, Jackson Meller was recognized with a special NHS Band Soloist Award!

We were excited to feature TWO NEW INSTRUMENTS IN THE PERCUSSION SECTION!!  The district recently purchased a vibraphone and marimba.  We were excited to feature them in the upcoming performance and will be using them for decades to come.

Several band members supported the class of 2021 by performing Pomp and Circumstance at the outdoor commencement ceremony.  We were excited to support the class of 2021 one last time this year.

The next performance for the band will be on July 25th at the Iron River Lion’s Club Blueberry Festival Parade!

Choir

Our final performance for the year was a very successful one as we presented Matinee Movie Music on May 21. The audience appreciated our music from “The Princess and the Frog”, “Sister Act”, “The Greatest Showman”, “Mulan” and “Shrek” to name a few. At the program, we honored the 24 graduating seniors who are in the choir, 20 of whom have been in the choir for their entire 4 years of high school. Congratulations Seniors! We will miss you!!!!!!

We also had some vocal performances at the State Solo/Ensemble competition, and we have brought home some strong results and serious hardware!

Link Crew

Link Crew Leaders plan on meeting with their freshmen monthly to do a variety of activities to help them with their second semester of high school.

Yearbook

There are yearbooks still available for purchase.  The price is $70.  If you would like one, let the high school office or Mrs. Thompson know; we can make sure there is one in the office for you to pick up and pay for.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Thompson @ kthompson@nw-tigers.org

Trap Club

The State Tournament is on Sunday, June 13th. We have 13 students attending.  They will each shoot 100 rounds of competition birds.  They will be competing against other student athletes from Wisconsin who are at the same level. The levels are Novice, Junior Varsity, and Varsity.
