During the month of November, NHS sponsored a warm clothing drive. Community members, staff, and students did a great job donating over 20 bags of gently used coats, sweatshirts, pants, etc. The donations were given to HDC in Superior who will distribute the items to individuals ages 12-21 who are in need.
In December, the chapter worked with KIN to purchase and wrap some gifts for two children in the area.

December 8, 2023
Dear Families,
As the winter season approaches, I would like to inform you that this year we may be implementing a two (2) hour delay and early dismissals.
There may be times when the weather and the forecast determines that we need to call off school and close for the day. If the roads or weather are poor in the morning but it looks like it may clear up by 10:00 a.m, I will be calling for a two (2) hour delay.
The process for determining school closing is checking with the Transportation Department as well as the Bayfield and Douglas County Highway Departments to see what the conditions of the roads are. If the roads are in poor condition, I would make the two (2) hour delay call no later than 5:10 a.m. If we feel that the weather is letting up and that the roads will be passable, we will follow through with the two (2) hour delay schedule. If we feel that the weather is not letting up and or will continue to be poor throughout the morning, we will make the call to close school no later than 6:45 a.m.
This also applies to making a call for an early dismissal. Depending on what time poor weather is moving into our area, we will let families know in advance if we would be closing school early.
The reason for these changes are strictly for the safety of our students and staff who would be on the roads with poor driving conditions. Our bus drivers have proven to be excellent drivers in the winter time, but this is for their safety as well as our students on our buses.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this matter.
Yours in Education,
Karl B. Morrin, District Administrator
