NES Mentors

Thank you to all the NHS students who have made a commitment to the NES Mentor program.   We have a great group making a difference in the life of an NES student.  Our 3 C’s for this year are Commitment, Communication, and Consistency. Thank you for committing; thank you for communicating with your cooperating teacher at NES; and thank you for being consistent.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Vik in Room 3055 or send an email to Mrs. Hietala.  As spring approaches, the Communication piece is critical!  We understand how busy ALL students are, so thank you in advance for your commitment, and please remember your NES student is counting on you each week to make that connection.  If you are a Jr. or Sr. this coming fall, and you are interested in being an NES mentor, please stop in to see Mrs. Vik.

SADD/FACT

SADD and FACT (Fighting Against Corporate Tobacco) are combining efforts at NHS.  We have had 3 meetings with Sara White from Douglas County and presently we are hoping to promote “Movies on the Island” this summer.  More details to follow.  We are also making some posters and stickers to hand out soon that promote healthy lifestyle choices.  Our next meeting with Sara will be May 12.

Student Council

The Student Council hosted a “Post-Assessment Celebration” to recognize the hard work students put in this past month on the Pre-ACT, ACT, & Forward exams.  During their Advisory, students enjoyed some drinks/snacks (cookies for the “Smart Cookies”, for example), listened to some music, and relaxed with friends.

Trap Club

The Spring 2025 Season is well underway.  April 30th marks the 2nd week of competition, with 3 weeks of competition remaining, along with a fun night where there will be food, and fun games such as, “Annie Oakley” and “ Back Your Buddy.” The State Tournament in Rome WI, will be held the 2nd weekend in June.
