Select junior and senior choir members also had the opportunity to participate in the UWS Chorfest event on Tuesday, October 28th. They prepared pieces all day with other area schools and performed them with a live orchestra and members of the UWS choir.
The choir and other small groups are now shifting focus to prep for the Winter Choir Concert on Monday, December 8th. Small Groups are also preparing for the Tour of Schools on Friday, December 19th where they get to go to NMS, NES, and IRES to sing some of their Winter Concert music for the kids!
DECA
Our school year is underway, and we have lots of exciting activities on the horizon! First up is the Emerging Leaders Conference in the Wisconsin Dells in November. We are also starting to prep for our competition season! We are looking forward to a DECA-mazing year!
Drama
The drama team held their district competition on Thursday, October 23. They received constructive feedback and qualified for sectional competition at the Pablo Center in Eau Claire on Wednesday, November 5.
"Apostrophe's," a farcical look at punctuation and its relation to relationships, is the team's other one-act play currently being fine-tuned. Both will be showcased at this year's Night of One Acts, a free public performance, on Tuesday, November 18 at the high school.
FCCLA
Monday, October 20th marked the beginning of our 20th year for the FCCLA Thanksgiving Basket Drive. The drive collects food items for families in our community to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal to share with their families. NHS FCCLA students partner with Rural Care and Share food shelves at their two locations. NMS also collects baskets. Last year we collected 46 baskets full of food items and $200 in cash donations. On Wednesday, November 12, we will have a 20th Year Celebration during advisory in the NHS auditorium. We will present the baskets and any monetary donations to representatives from the food shelves as well as celebrate 20 years of community service. Help us makes this our best year yet. Please contact Misty Radig with any questions.
FBLA
We are beginning the process of gearing up for our Regional competition. Many students are competing in the presentation category which requires a tremendous amount of preparation prior to the competition. They will be out in the community interviewing individuals and creating video clips as part of their presentation.
FCA
The NHS Huddle of FCA meets every Friday morning at 7:35 a.m. in Room 3058. Reagan Eberhardt, Payton Orme, Sophie Navarro, Jael Lintula and Ailie Clemmer are leading the Huddle. We had a great evening at Hayward High School as we gathered for the Field of Faith event. We had to be in the gym due to the poor weather conditions. Thank you to the FCA Huddle in Hayward as they hosted several Heart of the North schools! Special thanks also to the Landwehr family who let us borrow a van for the trip.
FFA
Fundraising continues with FFA members again planning, coordinating, and staffing the football concessions stand for all home varsity games. On Oct 15, 2025 FFA members welcomed Wisconsin State FFA Vice President Haley Prill to all Agriscience classes and to an FFA meeting. Members held a Halloween themed cookie decorating contest with members choosing pumpkins, ghosts, bats, and other spooky designs in a fun event with the state officer.
SADD/FACT
We are presently partnering with Douglas County Drug Prevention Coalition and Sara White to help us with upcoming events. The “Clear the Air” panel did a great job! Thank you to those that participated. Also, special thanks to those that helped with the assembly on Oct. 21. We have two groups of students that will be handing out candy at the Trunk or Treat in Poplar and Maple on Oct. 31. Thanks for representing our community! And, stay tuned for information concerning the Great American Smoke Out on Nov. 20. Thank you to Sara and Charmaine for coordinating this outreach event!
Student Council
The Student Council planned a fun week of dress-up days and a well-attended Homecoming Tailgate. Included in the festivities were the first annual Car & Truck Show which featured over 50 vehicles and food trucks! Winners (1st & 2nd places) of the cornhole tournament walked away with cash prizes and many young faces were painted in support of PINK OUT: Tackle Cancer. Student Council members are now shifting their focus on the Halloween Assembly, which will feature a costume parade/contest, game, and dance off.
