NHS Activities Monthly Round-up: October 2024

Band

The band recently performed on the Fall Concert with the Concert Choir.  Next up for the band includes the UMD Honor Band, NWMA All-Conference Band as well as the KBJR Christmas City of the North Parade.

Choir

Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Vocal Jazz, Wolf Pack, and Satis Stella are busy preparing their music for either the Fall Concert (Monday, 10/28) and/or the Winter Concert (Mon. 12/9). Vocal Jazz will also be performing at the Java Jive Concert (Wed. 12/18 at 1:20pm).

DECA

We’re excited to host our first meeting this month!  We will kick off the year with our candy bar fundraiser to help offset costs for our events this year.  The Sports and Entertainment Marketing Conference is also right around the corner!  Sign up today!

DRAMA

The cast and crew are looking forward to their next competition next Wednesday at the Pablo Center at the Confluence in Eau Claire where they will receive valuable feedback from judges. Should they receive qualifying scores at this sectional competition, they will move on to state competition at UW-Milwaukee on the 22nd of November. They look forward to their free public performance at The Night of One Acts held here in Maple on Thursday, November 21.

FCA

Welcome to a new season of FCA.  Everyone is welcome and you do not have to be an athlete.  Our leaders for this year are Addison Hanson, Ashlyn Sutherland, Payton Orme, Reagan Eberhardt and Morgan Martens.  We meet every Friday morning at 7:30 am in Room 3058.  This is a student led organization.  We attended the Field of Faith event at Denfeld High School stadium on Oct. 23.  Mr. Dan Schafter volunteered his time to drive us there!  Thank you Dan!  We heard from 2 UWS athletes and had a great evening.  Thank you to Mission Covenant for partnering with us to make this event happen.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Be on the lookout for members of the National Honor Society on Halloween.  They will be going around in their hometowns to collect non-perishable food items for the local food shelf.  This is called the Trick-or-Can event.  Thank you for helping them support our community.

NES Mentors

Thank you to all the NHS students who have made a  commitment to the NES Mentor program.   We have a great group looking to making a difference in the life of an NES student.  Our 3 C’s for this year are Commitment, Communication and Consistency. Thank you for making a commitment, thank you for communicating with your cooperating teacher at NES and thank you for being consistent.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Vik in Room 3055 or send an email to Mrs. Hietala.

SADD

We have two groups of students that will be in Poplar and Maple for the community Trunk or Treat events.  Thank you to Mr. Hessel for making us great signs for those events!  We also are hoping to partner with the FACT group for some events that help our students make good choices.  Stay tuned for further updates!

YEARBOOK

The senior photos, baby pictures, and quotes are due Friday, November 1.  If you have not already done so, please email those items to Mrs. Thompson (kthompson@nw-tigers.org).  The pictures should be in the jpeg format.
Also, there are about 100 yearbooks available for purchase online.  Go to the Jostens website and order a yearbook: 16 books are available at the $70 price, and then the price goes up after those are sold.
