FCA
Our FCA Huddle Group recently met with Mr. Tim Gunderson, Regional Coordinator for FCA. He encouraged us to press on with our Huddle Group meetings and challenged us to keep reaching out. We recently had a Valentine’s Day themed breakfast with pink pancakes! Please see Kayla Paulsen, Peter Kephart, Jenna Hursh, or Lawson Burkhart if you have any questions. We meet every Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. in Room 3058. Everyone is welcome!
FFA
FFA competition season kicked off in early February with the leadership development contests. Northwestern hosted 5 other schools to put on these contests. Northwestern had four students compete with Maria Wiita placing fifth and Brinley Tonn placing fourth in Employability Skills and Job Interview. Asher Gilderman placed third in Extemporaneous Speaking and Lily Kwako placed 1st and will move on to the Sectional Competition in April in Prepared Speaking.
FFA members also celebrated National FFA Week by holding a community service fundraising project for the Douglas County Humane Society and prepared a Staff Appreciation Pancake breakfast.
Next up will be the team competitions in career development in early April.
Forensics
The NHS Forensics team is off to a delayed start. Weather is not cooperating with these hard-working students who are busy writing, cutting, and practicing their speeches and literature interpretations. Subdistrict competition is scheduled for Monday, February 27. The NHS team will compete alongside eight other schools from the region.
