NHS Sports Recap of the Week

Cross Country

The Northwestern Tiger Cross Country Team hosted the conference meet at Norwood Golf Course on Tuesday.  The girls were very competitive and finished 3rd, beating out Cameron by 2 points.  Varsity scoring runners were:  All conference runner Kennedy Nelson, 6th; All conference runner Autumn Askim, 9th; Holly Klomhaus, 17th; Paige Johnson, 25; Emma Mickus, 27; Alayna Pederson, 31; and Ruby Moore, 36.  The boys continued their conference championship streak and won their 11th conference title in a row with a score of 20 to 2nd place Cameron’s 86.  All varsity scoring runners earned All Conference places.  Varsity included: Bennett Nelson, 3rd; Justin Orme, 4th; Koy Nelson, 5th; Preston Brilla, 6th; Kieran Johnson, 7h; Emmett Johnson, 8th; and Adam Thom, 9th.  Top JV runner Ian Kalin also won an All Conference award.  Congratulations to all the Tigers who competed, ran personal bests, and supported their team.

Football

The Tigers closed out a perfect regular season Friday night by defeating Chetek-Weyhaeuser to move to 9-0.  Seven different Tigers scored touchdowns on the night, and the team was able to move the game into running time quickly, and all the players were able to get some time on the field.  The Tigers have earned the #1 seed in the Northwest Region of the WIAA State Football Playoffs, and they will begin the state tournament by hosting Nekoosa, at home, on Friday evening.

Girls Golf

Congratulations to Kiernan Smith who tied for 4th at golf state.  She had a cumulative score of 172.  One of our best finished in school history.  Congratulations again!!!!!.

Volleyball

The volleyball C team lost to Spooner on Tuesday 2, 1, as did the JV. The varsity fell 3-1 to the Rails. Brooke Ogren had 12 kills, Allison Luoma had 8, and Tayva Plasch had 27 assists.
