Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books held their first meeting last Friday.  Due to our remarkable 2nd place state finish last year our numbers have increased to 20 students who will attempt to read the 20 titles on the Battle list this year.  The overall consensus regarding the titles chosen by the state is a thumbs up.  We will be meeting every other week through December, then weekly through the last week of February when our team will compete in the online state wide competition.

Blood Drive

Our first blood drive of the year is Tuesday, October 15th.  Please help save a lift and pick up your participation permission form in the office as soon as possible.

New this year - students only have to sign the permission form one time for the entire year!!!!

Book Club

Students who don’t like to read specific titles (as in Battle of the Books) meet weekly to discuss the books they are currently reading.  Our number has grown this year as those who love literature gather and share their thoughts on a variety of titles.

Chess Club

Chess Club is up and running.  Students get a variety of opponents to match up against as multiple matches are played throughout the library.

FFA

Northwestern FFA has been busy fundraising for the coming year by operating the football concession stand. Officers also participated in a Leadership Development workshop at Barron High School in mid September. Five FFA students will be traveling to Indianapolis, Indiana for the 92nd National FFA Convention at the end of October.

Green Club

Green Club has started Monday recycling during AA and is planning on doing Highway Clean-Up on Sunday, Oct 27th from noon - 2pm

N-Club

N-Club sells concessions during sports events that are held in the gym.  One goal this year is to get better participation from a variety of students who have lettered in a sport or activity.

National Honor Society

The National Honor Society has been busy working on individual service hours.  We are now preparing for our annual Trick-or-Can event that takes place on Halloween.  Members go from house to house asking for canned goods to donate to the local food shelf.  We hope to collect more than 700 lbs of food this year.
