Hosting an International Student (Foreign Exchange) at NHS.
Northwestern High School has had a working relationship with the AFS Intercultural Program (originally known as the American Field Service) in bringing International Students (Foreign Exchange) to NHS and our community. AFS is the only agency we will accept students from at this time.
Please do not respond to any advertisements looking for host families without first contacting us. When considering host families, our criteria is that the family must:
- Have a high school student attending NHS who is involved in some type of school activities;
- Commit to providing transportation to and from school for events and activities;
- Commit to providing a “northern Wisconsin experience”, including travel to local, regional and state areas of interest;
- Commit to providing academic and emotional support as needed.
We, at NHS, firmly believe that International students become an integral part of the fabric of a school by not only becoming involved in our classrooms and activities, but also in sharing with our students a little bit of their own culture.
If you are interested in hosting an International Exchange student, please contact the high school office. We will discuss our process of matching families and students through AFS and add you to our database.
